After the awesomeness of sharing them with good friends, there is still enough for leftovers for the whole week. And eating awesome tacos at work > eating something lame from au bon pain or cosi!

Take me to Alexandria! →
Oh my goodness have you guys heard about this gorgeous new shop in Alexandria?! It’s called Society Fair and is a gourmet grocery and cafe featuring goods from some of Alexandria’s top restaurants (many of which are top restaurants nationally). I believe they’ll also be offering cooking classes.
I really wish I made it out to Alexandria more often, as their food offerings are...

I’m thinking maybe the pizza class at Matchbox, definitely the Indian food class, and the Belgian class at Belga cafe! Ohmygoodness!
Jodi are you wtih me?!

Making money in the food world! →
Thanks to the DCist, I just made my evening plans! This discussion at the 6th & I Synagogue features two local women entrepreneurs who have had success selling their food to the DC market.
They’ll talk about all the juicy details for only $10.
Tonight, 7pm, I’m definitely there!

I Love Thanksgiving!
If you have spent any tme with me this past week, you’ve heard me sing these words at least 5xs, and its true. There is something so joyful and warm about this Holiday. I’ve spent the last 4 years of thanksgivings in DC. Hosted two, and attended two and every single one has been special.
This year I spent it at my dear friend Katherine’s place, and here is what I made (sorry...

a pretty decent hot drink
My immune system has not been my friend lately, after 2 weeks of a painful ear infection, I’ve now come down with a cold, and with just weeks to go before my biggest work event of the year… I’m not into it.
I’ve had fun putting hot toddy’s together just before bed, but tonight G sprout suggested something new. It came out to be warm, spicy and soothing, give it a...

Hurting Livlihoods →
I’m really saddend about the recent closing of this outdoor Latin Food market in Adam’s Morgan. I’ve actually never eaten at one of these stands, so I have no idea whether the food is delicious, or terrible. All I know, is that the DC government is knowingly protecting established businesses at the expense of the people who run these stalls.
The restaurant business is no...

My goodness where have I been?
Well hello there tumblr! It’s been way too long since I’ve posted and I’m sure you’ve all been waiting with bated breath.
So what have I been up to?
Planning a Gala event at the Arts Club of Washington
Giddily tasting Argentine wines at my favorite DC event Arts on Foot
Exploring all the new fun spots at the H St. NE festival

Arts on Foot is Almost Here! →
This is by far my favorite DC event of the year. Penn Quarter is literally taken over by row upon row of food stall, with great small bites from some of the best restaurants in the city, for very reasonable places. Add to that the wine tasting pavilion and you pretty much have my happiest day ever.
It’s this Saturday and Sunday, I”ll be there, and you should go too!

Throwing a Bridal Shower in 2 hours or less
My dear friend Katherine is getting married this weekend, so I thought it would be nice to throw a small get together for her to kick off the wedding week.
Problem was, My mom was in town last week, then I was in Seattle, then I had a wedding to attend Saturday, so I had almost no time to pull things together!
How did I do it, you ask? Here’s how. I used what food stuffs I had in my...

Delicious Burger! →
This assessment of The Standard’s burger is absolutely correct. I enjoyed one of these a couple of weekends ago when I was lucky enough to get a spot at a table. The burger was seriously one of the best I’ve eaten. Great mouthfeel, great flavors, just what you want. Go get one!
P.s. their fries and hot dogs are also great. Their coleslaw has got some nice acidicity, but it’s...

Coffee Renaissance →
This article in the Atlantic’s Life section is so exciting. It discusses the way that current independent coffee companies and producers in the U.S. are bringing an enthusiasm and creativity to the coffee world that is revolutionizing the product. Something unknown since the Italians’ invention of espresso 100 years ago.
From the eyes of a brand ambassador of the longstanding Illy...

Everyone has been posting the great taco Tuesday friend quote from this article, but this bit here resonated with me heavily. I fall into this trap all too often, and it’s something I’m trying hard to fight.

I just spent a lovely hour with some coworkers eating lunch at this new spot. I couldn’t really take photos, but I plan to go back soon and I’ll get some photos next time.
This place opened up in an adorable alley just past 9th and N st. NW. To me it has sort of a California vibe, light wood tables jars of spices and brining vegetables as decoration, and a very laid back feel. Their...

Sounds Delicious!
Prince of Petworth alerted me to this brand new sandwich shopping opening not toooo far from my office. the space looks a little rough, and the neighborhood might prove difficult to have such a gourmet shop in, but damn does that beirut sandwich sound delicious or what?!

No Pictures
Sadly, my phone/camera has had some mechanical difficulties and I’m unable to share photos with you of my weekend.
Tumbling without photos seems somehow wrong so I’ll keep it short
1. You must try the Rickey Bobby at the Passenger, gin, lime juice and ginger beer… it’s perfection!
2. The Eat Local DC farm to street fest was no good, and unfortunately a waste of money....

Summer time!
I’m loving how prepared for summer my refrigerator finally is! I’ve got a jug of home made iced tea, and a freezer full of home made berry sorbet to keep me cool on hot summer days. Now I just can’t wait for my first CSA vegetable delivery this week to really dive into the season.

Taylor Gourmet Expansion! →
This is such exciting news! Primarily because this new Taylor shop will be pretty close to my office, but also because I love love love to see young local entrepreneurs succeed in such an awesome way.
I used to live right near Taylor’s first shop on H St. NE, I think I visited in one of it’s first few weeks when the owners were making the sandwiches and working the register. Look how...

New York, New York!
I LOVE that I’ve been visiting NY so much lately, and I think since January, I’ve managed to go once every couple of months, which is fantastic!
I’m heading to NY this weekend for a bachelorette weekend with a good friend of mine who is getting married in September. We’ll be staying in Midtown, and hopefully eating tons of awesome food.
We’re eating in the...

Great recommendations for out door sitting, drinking eating etc. I’m now dying to visit Bourbon steak to check out their patio.
My favorite patio spots are the Red Derby, DC9 and the new El Centro DF and Solly’s is probably my absolute favorite for happy hour. I’m always looking for more spots though, and definitely want to check out Veranda soon as it’s pretty close to...

Dinner Parties on a Work Night
Do any of you get a bit of an adrenaline high after playing hostess? There is just something so exciting about seeing friends comfortably eating, drinking and chatting in your home.

So many food events....
And I have to miss them! I’ll be up in Delaware this weekend for the wedding of a dear college friend, and I’m so excited! I’ll be seeing friends that I haven’t seen since college (5 years ago!).
However, if you are in DC this weekend, there are two really cool sounding food events taking place. The first is a grey market at Local 16. This market will feature food from...
