My goodness where have I been?

Well hello there tumblr! It’s been way too long since I’ve posted and I’m sure you’ve all been waiting with bated breath.

So what have I been up to?

  1. Planning a Gala event at the Arts Club of Washington
  2. Giddily tasting Argentine wines at my favorite DC event Arts on Foot
  3. Exploring all the new fun spots at the H St. NE festival

I’m a bad blogger and didn’t get any photos.

Right now I’m enjoying a fantastic breakfast, sauteed buttery mushroom and leeks on toast with a fried egg. So rich and decadent. Also watching France 24 and Russia TV.

I’m going to do better from here on out, i swear!

A couple of weeks ago my friend Joe came over for breakfast, and brought along some coffee from a recent trip to Ecuador.

He’s toying with the idea of starting a coffee distribution business and wanted my “expert” opinion of the coffee. We tried it both in a traditional drip coffee maker, and then busted out my espresso machine, which hasn’t seen the light of day in ages!

Germaine got to work playing around with foaming milk, and making espresso and the results were really lovely.

The coffee is some of the smoothest I’ve ever tasted, though it did lack that bite in the the back of your mouth that I love so much.

So despite  my lack of most cooking staples. I was inspired this morning to cook a fantastic breakfast. It  started with wanting to try these Irish scones, and making baked eggs, and ended up including roasted garlic potatoes, caramelized onions and some home made strawberry jam.

mmmm mmm!

So, today I decided I was going to make bagels. Would it be lame to say I’ve been looking forward to this all week? Oh well, it’s true!

I used the recipe and instructions on Two Coast Table , and got to work. It was a lot of fun, and not too terribly time consuming.

My bagels didn’t turn out quite as golden brown as I would have liked, but they taste pretty good! While they were still hot I cracked into one, slathered it in cream cheese and Mmmm Mmm! So much fun!

I’m having a few friends over for brunch to try them out tomorrow and I hope they like them as much as I do!

Here Here!

jodilyn:

I’m watching this episode of Frasier (on Lifetime of course!) where everyone in the household, including Niles, has a significant other and they enjoy breakfast together in their robes and pajamas.

It’s so fun and reminds me of how fun our house can be on weekend mornings when we all gather in the kitchen for coffee and ultimately clean out the contents of our fridge to make a delicious breakfast.
